Escape to the openness of the Great Karoo, where rugged mountains and an increasingly rare sense of stillness sets the pace. Tucked into the Sneeuberg Mountains between Nieu-Bethesda and Middelburg, Sneeuberg Nature Reserve spans 14,000 hectares of pristine wilderness.

At 1,700 metres above sea level, the reserve enjoys mild summers and crisp winters with occasional snow between July and September. Free-roaming Nguni cattle, antelope, birdlife and small predators call this landscape home. Pair the wilderness of Sneeuberg with a stay at Langhuis Guesthouse in Graaff-Reinet, and experience two distinct sides of the Great Karoo.
